Sodexo Australia wins $170m contracts in resources sector

Sodexo Australia expands energy and resources portfolio, with new contracts collectively valued at $170 million.

Sodexo Australia has announced two contract wins in the energy and resources sector, collectively valued at almost $170 million.

The Sodexo contracts with Ausco Stayover and Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation (RNO), an Australian Subsidiary of First Quantum Minerals, are part of the company’s wider plans to focus on its energy and resources portfolio, with the new contracts expected to generate more than 200 new jobs across Western Australia and Queensland.

Sodexo will support Ausco in four of its Stayover by Ausco villages, including Chinchilla, Dalby and Dysart in Queensland, and Kingfisher Village in Karratha, in WA.

The First Quantum contract will see Sodexo placed at Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation (RNO) in the Esperance-Goldfield region of WA.

A comprehensive set of integrated services will be delivered to both companies, including accommodation and village management, catering, housekeeping, grounds maintenance, tavern and retail services, and health and recreation services.

Sodexo is contracted for five years with Ausco and has employed around 150 service workers to the more than 1000 residents who will be on-site at any given time.

The contract includes the management of more than 2200 beds across the four Stayover villages.

Keith Weston, Sodexo Australia managing director, said the company made the decision in 2021 to focus its efforts in Australia on its energy and resources portfolio and continue to build its integrated facilities management and food services for the country’s resources sector.

“Our contract wins with Ausco and First Quantum demonstrate how we’ve delivered on this promise as a result of our growing capability in the sector to tailor integrated service offerings to companies and a customer-centric experience to workers.

”I look forward to seeing our teams drive continual improvement on-site as we work towards a safer, respectful and inclusive resources industry for all.”
