MicroSafe Care Australia receives TGA approved label claim against COVID-19

MicroSafe Care Australia Group’s Nanocyn Disinfectant & Sanitiser approved by TGA for use against COVID-19.

MicroSafe Care Australia Group’s Nanocyn Disinfectant & Sanitiser has been approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for use against COVID-19.

According to MicroSafe Care Australia, Nanocyn Disinfectant & Sanitiser “is the first all-natural disinfectant of its kind in Australia that kills and eliminates the coronavirus, SARS- CoV-2 (COVID-19) in 30 seconds contact time.”

The company states “Nanocyn Disinfectant & Sanitiser is non-toxic, non-corrosive, made from 100 per cent natural ingredients, is 100 per cent biodegradable and pH-neutral.” The product is entered into the TGA – ARTG as a registered, hospital-grade disinfectant with claims.

Matt Seifert, managing director for MicroSafe Care Australia, said: “We are very pleased with the test results and recognition of the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) claim for Nanocyn. The product is based on the Microcyn technology platform.

“We at the MicroSafe Group have been on the ground and actively fighting major outbreaks globally for almost 20 years. We believe that non-toxic products are the way forward. While the current COVID-19 pandemic is by far the biggest infection event in living memory, we need to ensure that we are fighting the pandemic without adding additional hazards and angers with toxic chemicals”.

“We are elated to have the 30 seconds kill time claim against SARS-CoV-2, most people and professional cleaners simply do not have the time to expose surfaces for 10 minutes or longer to a product during disinfection,” said Seifert.

According to the company the ready-to-use formula is ideal for daily use in hospitals, military environments, aircraft, aged-care facilities, child-care, schools, offices, supermarkets and gyms.

The TGA has published a list of disinfectant products that have been included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) with specific claims against SARS-Cov-2 (COVID 19) or COVID-19 on the product label.

The TGA stated on its website it had received a number of enquiries seeking to know which disinfectants have been included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) for use against COVID-19.

In March the TGA fast-tracked changes to its guidelines under Therapeutic Goods Order 104, 2019 to allow listed disinfectants to make validated claims to kill the COVID-19 virus on surfaces.

“The TGA has done an impeccable job providing us with the framework and assistance for achieving this claim for our label. With international distribution and many international approvals, we are very proud to have our products registered with one of the most respected government regulators in the world,” said Seifert.

“We are confident that we will play a role in making Australia a healthier place for everyone and that we can assist in ensuring a safer environment, especially now that we are all getting ready to re-open the economy.”
