Bunzl ANZ to move into 6-star GreenStar-rated headquarters

Bunzl ANZ announces science-based commitment to be net zero by 2030.

Bunzl Australia & New Zealand is preparing to move into a new 6-star GreenStar-rated headquarters in Sydney.

Bunzl ANZ is a specialist distribution group that supplies businesses with hospitality, healthcare, hygiene, cleaning and safety products.

The business recognises that pursuing a sustainability strategy (which this building is part of) will result in additional costs while bringing about tangible benefits.

The Australian and New Zealand arm of the business is embracing a science-based commitment to be net zero by 2030, in part by minimising emissions from its facilities (these cover Scope 1 emissions that the company makes directly) and vehicle fleet (these include Scope 2 emissions from indirect sources).

Even though the company’s decision to retrofit facilities and move into a new 6-star GreenStar-rated headquarters in Sydney will inevitably cause some short-term increases in operational expenses, the Bunzl APAC leadership team has backed the move all the way.

Shifting from Enfield, Bunzl will relocate to Elevation at Greystanes estate, a $200 million facility at Pemulwuy, 30km west of Sydney.

The 23,442sqm distribution centre will integrate a 300kW solar system, LED light fittings, solar hot water, rainwater harvesting and smart electricity and water metering.

A vital part of Bunzl’s sustainability push is the move. The new headquarters and distribution hub will showcase the considerable efficiencies that good design and focus can achieve.

In other states, Bunzl will make environmentally friendly changes and retrofit sites where it can across existing facilities that have long-term leases which are still active, including negotiating with landlords to install solar capabilities and LED lighting.
