International distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl plc has completed three further acquisitions, one of which is Auckland-based distributor of cleaning and hygiene products ICB Cleaning Supplies.

ICB directors Mike Tarbitt and Rick Boughey bought the business in late 2000.

The (6 November) announcement revealed that Bunzl bought Sao Paulo (Brazil) personal protection equipment (PPE) firm Casa do Epi Ltda; and cleaning and hygiene distributors Cemelim (Barcelona, Spain) and ICB.

‘The aggregate annualised revenue of both businesses (Cemelin and ICB) is approximately £5 million (AUD10.7 million),’ stated Bunzl.

“The purchase of Casa do Epi is an important acquisition for our safety business in Brazil. The business has an excellent reputation and a broad customer base and will strengthen our market position in the state of Minas Gerais while Cemelim and ICB will add further scale to our cleaning and hygiene supplies businesses in Spain and New Zealand respectively,” commented Michael Roney, Bunzl’s chief executive.

Bunzl is a leading specialist distribution group with operations in 29 countries across four continents. It supplies a wide range of consumable products such as food packaging, disposable tableware and catering equipment, cleaning and hygiene supplies, guest amenities, personal protection equipment, packaging and healthcare consumables to various customer markets including grocery, foodservice, cleaning and hygiene, safety, non-food retail and healthcare.

In 2014 UK-based Bunzl recorded a revenue of AUD13,155 million and an operating profit AUD730.35 million. Cleaning and hygiene products represent about 13 percent of Bunzl’s turnover while food service is its largest market segment at about 28 percent.
