What’s on at 2023 ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo

With less than two weeks to go, INCLEAN takes a look at what is on offer at Australia’s only dedicated event for the cleaning and hygiene industry.

There’s less than two weeks to go until Australia’s only dedicated event for the cleaning and hygiene industry.

The ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo will return to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 1 November and Thursday 2 November 2023.

The two-day, free-to-attend event is the only show in the southern hemisphere that is dedicated to the cleaning and hygiene industry, and will bring together leading experts, innovators, and cleaning professionals.

“The industry is excited to return to Melbourne, with this year’s expo set to be the largest event to date, with a record number of exhibitors,” said Lauren Micallef, ISSA Oceania Manager.

Cutting edge products and solutions on show

For the first time, there will be more than 90 local and international exhibitors showcasing the latest cutting-edge products and innovative solutions.

The ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo will also feature an extensive education program with 16 free to attend speaker sessions plus onsite workshops and networking events.

The education program will address issues currently impacting the cleaning and hygiene industry, as well as examine business insights, future trends, and innovations.

Topics to be discussed will include AI and latest technologies, infection prevention, sustainability, how to monitor effective cleaning procedures and protocols, the importance of environmental social governance (ESG), cleaning for health, tender writing best practice, and more.

Attendees will learn how these issues relate directly to their business and how they can implement changes to stay at the forefront of industry best practice.

For participants involved in contracting workers for cleaning commercial premises, the program will feature an essential session highlighting labour hire licensing requirements and issues in the industry, presented by Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner, Steve Dargavel.

The Facilities Management Association (FMA) Victoria Committee will also host a breakfast workshop on the changing landscape of labour hire legislation. Speakers for this session include Steve Dargavel, Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner, The Labour Hire Authority; Luke Snell, Work Health, and Safety Manager; A.G. Coombs Group, and Dan Trindade , partner and the National Practice Group Leader in Clayton Utz’s Workplace Relations, Employment and Safety team.

Product excellence to be celebrated

In addition to the exhibition and education program, the expo will also feature the 2023 INCLEAN Excellence Awards.

These awards celebrate the latest innovations and recognise outstanding achievements of people who work in the industry. This year, there were more than 60 award submissions.  This year’s judging panel included John Taylor, Geoff Thorpe, and INCLEAN editor Claire Hibbit.

Taylor is an expert advisor to the cleaning industry, having been involved with the sector for more than 50 years.  Thorpe has more than 40 years’ experience in sales and management in various industries including commercial cleaning, retail, hardware, pharmacy, hospitality.

Awards finalists will showcase their products in the Innovation Zone on the show floor, and the winners will be announced during the networking event on Wednesday 1 November, providing expo attendees with an exclusive opportunity to interact with industry leaders, forge valuable connections, and expand their network of business professionals.

In addition to the extensive lineup of speakers, workshops, and networking opportunities, the ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo 2023 will offer professional headshot sessions.

“This year’s event is a must-attend for anyone interested in advancing their knowledge and expertise in the cleaning sector,” said Micallef.

“Attendees can connect with their peers, learn from experts, and discover the latest trends and innovations that are shaping the future of the industry. We look forward to seeing you all there!”
