Tom Lundy

11 May 1960 – 14 September 2012

Most of you will be aware that Tom Lundy has been very unwell. Sadly this email is to inform you that Tom passed away on Friday night, 14th September, at home with Rosemary.

Tom was born in Lancashire, England on the 11th May, 1960. He has two sisters and a brother, two of whom live here in NZ. He worked in the cleaning industry in NZ for many years and was well known throughout NZ.

Most recently he was national sales manager at Karcher NZ and prior to that at Clark Equipment NZ.

He worked closely with Cleaning Systems (CSL) in both these positions. For those of you who have attended the NZ Carpet Cleaners Conferences, you will have seen him on stage demonstrating equipment and educating us on waterblasters and vacuum cleaners. He was also a great auctioneer and led our last CSL Auction.

Rosemary and Tom were married in December 2005 on Lake Taupo. It poured with rain all morning, and we were wondering how the boat trip was going to go, but as soon as they were together on the boat, the sun came out and the day turned into a lovely sunny one.

Tom was a devoted husband to Rosemary and dad to Bianca, Monica and Brodie, sharing many of their formative years. He was also a proud poppa to Bianca and Henry’s son Benson and new daughter Halle.

Tom loved to fish and kept his boat at their holiday home at Algies Bay.
There was many a great weekend with huge snapper and lots of stories about the “one that got away”.

He always had a smile and a quip at the ready for those of us lucky enough to know him. We will all miss him and know his passing will leave a huge hole in his family’s life, as well as his many friends.

His funeral will be held at Purewa Cemetery & Crematorium, 100 St Johns Road, Meadowbank on Monday 24th September at 12 noon.

A Tribute to Tom Lundy

In 1999 I was asked by Clark Equipment to interview two candidates for the position of salesman for Windsor cleaning equipment in New Zealand. One of the candidates was from Lancashire and I could barely understand a word he said – but he had this spark in his eye and he made me laugh so he was recommended for the job. His name was Tom Lundy.

From the moment he started he made things happen and we worked together and partied all over New Zealand and in Australia, the US and Europe. I say partied because every moment with Tom was a party. Tom quickly gained a reputation in the industry for his no-nonsense attitude, his intelligence, for his integrity in everything he did and he was loved by his work colleagues and his customers – so much so that he married one of them, Cleaning Systems’ Rosemary Pritchard.

When Tom married Rose it poured with rain but the sun shone brightly on the spot on the lake where the boat was while Tom and Rose said those words of commitment. He became an instant father to three beautiful and brilliant young people and he helped them and was there for them from day one. It is really wonderful that he could form such a strong relationship and be instantly accepted by the entire family.

Tom was a great salesman, a great story teller, a great husband, a great father, a reasonable fisherman and a great guy. He is loved and will be remembered by people all over the world. Most of all he was my friend and he will be with me for the rest of my days.

Christine and I and all of his friends from the Windsor Industries’ family can’t say goodbye to Tom as he will never leave us. What we can say is that we loved him and he touched the hearts of many, many people. Thank you Tom. Thank you.

Brian and Christine Clark
