Last month Restoration Industry Association (RIA) members Duncan Bennett and Owen and Chris Boak travelled from Australia to the United States to attend RIA’s certification pre-requisite courses hosted by Interlink Supply in Denver, Colorado.

Bennett, a long time RIA member, has been a past member of the Association’s Restoration Advisory Council and will be returning to Phoenix, Arizona this October. He will attend RIA’s Water Loss Specialist (WLS) prep course to become the second WLS in Australia, joining Pammy Saini of Excel Group, Sydney.

Owen Boak is working with RIA’s director of standards to co-ordinate peer review and comment in the Oceania region for the Fire Standard Committee. Owen and his wife Chris will be returning to the US in November to attend the Certified Restorers prep course in Atlanta, Georgia, which will make them the first CRs in Australia.

Additionally, the Boaks have agreed to serve on the peer review team for the Certified Restorer Body of Knowledge scheduled for publication by RIA later this year. RIA’s CR redevelopment process has been in committee for the past two years as the Association’s certification programs are revamped to stay on the leading edge of the body of knowledge (BofK) in the restoration disciplines.
