More presenters join Indoor Environmental Health Conference

Inaugural Indoor Environmental Health Conference, taking place in conjunction with CleanNZ, adds more speakers to one-day program.

The Indoor Environmental Health Conference, taking place in conjunction with CleanNZ, has added more speakers to its one-day program.

Facilitated by the Carpet Cleaners Association of New Zealand (CCANZ) and the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), and sponsored by Cleaning Systems, the educational conference will focus on three key contamination topics: methamphetamine, mould and medical waste.

Newly announced speakers include; Rosemary Pritchard-Lundy, managing director of Cleaning Systems; Michael Parton, managing director of Property Service Franchise; health and safety expert Arie Graafhui; and Everard Paynter; owner and director of Actichem (Applied Products Australia).

Topics to be covered include procedures for methamphetamine contaminated carpets; Understanding pH in cleaning; Soft flooring trends; Water damage and mould contamination in buildings; Category 2 water loss and cytotoxic waste and Understanding labels and SDS.

Other speakers include Brian Murphy, managing director EHS and certified occupational hygienist; Paul Pritchard, training manager CSL, MHSPNZ and approved IICRC instructor; and Scott McFadzen, IICRC approved instructor, WLS, RIA.

Paul Prichard said the conference addresses the growing need for more education and awareness on how to deal with areas of contamination such as methamphetamine, mould and medical waste.

“Even though there are either local or international standards for dealing with these issues the vast majority of the public and even industry are either not aware or confused as to what to do about these hazards. This is creating huge risk especially for cleaners and decontaminators as well as real liability for everyone involved including property owners and managers,” Pritchard said.

“This conference facilitated both by CCANZ and RIA, and sponsored by Cleaning Systems, will thoroughly address these issues. We encourage anybody connected to these areas of contamination to attend.”
