First seen at the ISSA/Interclean 2010 Show, Karcher Australia has now launched the MC50 Municipal sweeper into the local market. Fully hydraulic and featuring a new quick change system, this machine can be converted from a road sweeper with a 500 litre hopper into a mulching mower, or construction sweeper, within minutes.
The 26 hp diesel motor is classed Stage III emission compliant and housed in an articulated chassis. The Eco Efficiency vacuuming system with a large vacuum turbine provides maximum suction power at only 75% of the maximum motor speed, thereby reducing exhaust emissions.
Fully hydraulic driven by 4 wheel motors, the MC50 is able to negotiate 25% inclines and easily climbs gutters up to 150mm high. The MC50 is said to be the only sweeper whereby the suction tube between the suction mouth and the collection hopper can be removed by hand without tools. Cleaning any blockages is fast and easy. The suction mouth is fitted between the wheels for protection and features an automatic bulk waste flap.
Driver comfort has been carefully considered with a deluxe seat including headrest and double adjustable armrests. Heating is standard along with a screen demister fan. Vision from the cabin is excellent with a 360 degree view and an easy view of the brooms. An opening sunroof and side window allow natural ventilation, with an opening latch on the door adding air flow if required.
Options for the MC50 include a third side brush; mulching mower decks of 125 and 135cm widths; roller angle broom; leaf suction hose; water recycling system; and a high pressure cleaner. Many driver comfort accessories are also available such as rear view camera, radio/CD player, air conditioning and sun protection blinds for the sunroof and upper front screen.
