In what it describes as ‘creating a true Pacific region’, ISS Facility Services has restructured so that its New Zealand operation, which had previously reported to the company’s Danish headquarters, now reports to the Australian head office and its CEO Dane Hudson.

That has meant ISS Facility Services’ NZ country manager Brian Young leaving the organisation as well as standing down from his BSC NZ national president position.

‘For some time, ISS has been reviewing how it can provide stronger support to the New Zealand team in line with the growth strategy of New Zealand, at the same time ensure its business remains efficient and nimble in sharing best practice opportunities between two key countries,’ said today’s ISS statement.

‘As a consequence, it has been decided that the New Zealand country manager’s overall responsibilities will shift to the chief executive officer, ISS Australia.  This then creates a true Pacific region.’

The New Zealand senior management team will report through to the relevant executive general manager in ISS Australia. ‘In other words, Gordon Marr will assume responsibility for the New Zealand Cleaning team headed up by Brett Davis.

‘As we farewell Brian, we are confident that these changes to the leadership structure will assist with more operational support and sustained growth for both countries into the future,’ stated ISS.

Patrick Lee-Lo takes BSC NZ national reins

Brian Young

As he is no longer in the cleaning industry Young was unable to continue in his role as BSC NZ national president. He had been national president for almost nine years, from 2002 to 2004 inclusive and then from 2006 til now.

“We all wish him well in his future endeavours and thank him for the enormous contributions he has made to the Association over the years,” said BSC NZ executive director Marja Verkerk.

Current BSC NZ vice president Patrick Lee-Lo (ToTal Property Services Auckland) will be taking on the president role. He has been involved on the Council for a number of years and currently serves as Auckland president. Lee-Lo has also been involved on the executive of the Wellington BSC NZ in the past so he is well versed in the issues facing the Association.

“In the year of the Olympics the first task on Patrick’s agenda will be presenting Para Olympian Rob Matthews with a contribution towards his next major event, the World Para-Triathlon Championships, which will be held in Auckland on 22 October.

“This will be a high profile international event held in New Zealand and a chance to promote BSC NZ as a partner. Rob was a speaker at the Clean NZ Show and many attendees approached the Association to see if we could do more to support Rob. BSC NZ will be supporting him in a small way and keeping a watchful eye on his progress when we launch our new website,” noted Verkerk.

The INCLEAN and AUSCLEAN team also thanks Brian Young for the great support he has shown the magazine and its exhibition arm. He was always very accessible and responsive.
