In an ongoing effort to make cleaning ‘easier, safer, faster, more productive and greener’ Bill Bassett, managing director of Interclean Australasia, hosted a tour of all the nation’s major cities. This was to conduct seminars on an innovative cleaning system for healthcare facilities, which he referred to as a ‘fully managed microfibre solution’.

“Traditional cleaning in healthcare facilities takes too long, is hard work and is a never ending job,” Bassett stated. “Old cleaning tools and processes cause strain and injury, increasing costs and more often than not, simply move dirt and germs around your facility.”

On hand to present with Bassett was VisionClean’s Peter Hennig, a cleaning training specialist for more than 20 years. German-based Hennig, who works closely with Europe’s high level hospitals and healthcare contractors, has developed the VisionClean collection of detailed visual training and procedural guides.

“With most cleaning and policy guides being full of text, and pages long, and with many of our cleaning staff from non-English speaking backgrounds, it is no wonder our staff find it hard to understand what to do, how to do it and when to do it,” commented Bassett. “VisionClean gives you the tools to create simple, effective instructions as to how your cleaners should be performing.”

VisionClean provides PowerPoint templates that can be tailored to the specific needs of each cleaning site and is based on three modules: scope, staff training and evaluation. “It sets a clear visual standard to guide best practices in cleaning to achieve targeted results while managing the risk of infection. This system gives more responsibility at the operational level, which is what we need as the cleaning is done by the cleaners, not the managers,” noted Hennig.

“It also creates ongoing cooperation and communication between supervisory and operational levels and, if you have a self-sufficient team working together, then it’s profitable for business,” he added. “Every minute you invest in proper training you get the return every single day that your staff is working.”

Bassett also gave demonstrations of nano. etc – an ultra-thin invisible coating that creates water-repelling surfaces reducing adhesion of dirt and germs, VibraScrub – the automatic mopping system, and Interclean’s TouchPoint Auditor mobile device.  All of which can be included in his fully managed system, along with comprehensive training by a qualified Interclean consultant.

“You don’t need help with products,” concluded Bassett. “You need help implementing them and bringing about quality change at the operational level.”
