She was formerly the GM of the family business supplying Cleaning and Safety, which was acquired by Corporate Express in 2000.

Kathryn’s proven skills in completing successful business cases signed off by ELT have led to wins on large national contracts. She successfully embedded four culturally diverse company acquisitions. She brings a solution-based industry mindset with extensive experience in meeting growth budgets up to $280 million.

Kathryn is skilled at managing and empowering teams to achieve positive sales and profit outcomes, dedicated and determined in reaching strategic goals, and a recipient of many National and State Sales Manager Awards. She believes that sustainability, reduced complexity, and supplier diversity can drive business productivity risk mitigation whilst engaging key stakeholders.

RIA Inc. is proud to announce the RIA Inc. Restoration Conference & Trade Show for 2023.

If you are working, interested or involved in the restoration industry, we invite you to come along to Australasia’s restoration event of the year and network with industry professionals, catch up with good friends, listen to a series of industry talks and see the latest products and services industry vendors have to offer.

Themed ‘Unmasking the Industry’, the 2023 conference and trade show is designed to reveal a number of industry truths, address a number of industry confusions and provide new industry information for attendees of the event.

The RIA Inc. Restoration Conference & Trade Show is a RIA and IICRC restoration continuing education credit (CEC) approved event.

Event overview

The event will officially commence on the early evening of the 31st of May with an industry networking night, followed by two days of industry talks and vendor exhibitions on the 1st and 2nd of June.

The 2023 conference speakers topics will include Business, Restoration, Insurance, Testing, Industry Advocacy and more. 2 new industry awards will be presented at the conference, including the RIA Inc. Residential Restoration Project of the Year award and RIA Inc. Commercial Restoration Project of the Year award. More information about the awards and their submission details will be announced soon.

The RIA Inc. Trade Show has been and will be the largest gathering of industry vendors in Australasia. Gain exclusive first access to meet industry vendors and find out about the latest products, services and technology that they have to offer. Previous vendors included equipment suppliers, product suppliers, technology providers, education providers, laboratories and more.

The event will conclude on the night of the 2nd with a formal gala dinner, Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony and live entertainment, an evening to enjoy with fellow friends and industry professionals.

Are you staying around after the event?

If you will be around on the Saturday following the event (3rd June) join us for the ‘Resto Facilities Tour’ whereby you will be toured around the facilities of two established restoration companies, Elements Group and Steamatic Australia. The tour will provide you access to see, amongst other technologies, laser cleaning technology, contents cleaning equipment, specialty drying equipment, vacuum freeze drying and their facility set up. Tea, coffee and food will be provided during the tour.

A private coach will pick up attendees from the Pullman on the Park in the morning and will drop them back off at 1:45pm, before leaving for Melbourne Tullamarine Airport at approximately 2pm.

Cleaning for Health: Helping Essential Workers Identify Reservoirs for Germs

The cleaning industry are managers of safety and health in the built environment. Businesses can grow and prosper by understanding the reservoirs for germ survival and spread.

This workshop closes gaps in current protections and controls for diseases transmissible by contact, droplet, and aerosol.

This training workshop consists of three sections:

  1. What does it mean to recognise risk
  2. How germs spread and make people sick
  3. Human body and built environment reservoirs important for our industry and your business

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Germs need five elements to spread and cause infection.
  • There are four main pathways that spread germs.
  • Germs are found in certain places – called reservoirs – and need a pathway to spread to other places and people.
  • There are five reservoirs in the built environment that are important for infection control and cleaning for health.
  • Cleaning for health actions focuses on decreasing or eliminating the risk of germ survival and spread.

Dr Gavin Macgregor-Skinner (BVSc, MSc, MPH, MRCVS) is the Senior Director of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA – the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association and has more than 30 years of technical experience in responding to infectious disease outbreaks and emergency management. As an infection prevention expert and consultant, he works to develop protocols and education for the global cleaning industry to empower facilities, businesses, and cleaning professionals to create safe environments.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he conducted onsite biological risk assessments and provided “just-in-time” training on infection prevention and control, cleaning and disinfection, and safe working practices for frontline workers in 16 US States and Hong Kong in hospital emergency departments, assisted-living and nursing homes, convention centers, airports, stadiums, public transport workers, and hotel staff and other essential employees. He has served on COVID-19 medical advisory committees for American Airlines, Port Authority Of New York and New Jersey, Hyatt Hotels, International Association of Venue Managers, American Association of Airport Executives, NFL, and NBA teams including Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and Los Angeles Lakers.

He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Penn State College of Medicine and teaches three 15-week graduate courses on Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Terrorist Emergencies. In 2014, he received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in teaching.

He has appeared on CNN, Fox News, BBC, Canada CTV, Australia ABC, C-SPAN, and other news outlets to share his expertise on High Consequence Pathogens such as Coronavirus, Ebola, Influenza, Measles, Cholera, Zika and other global health threats. He served 12-years as an Officer in the Australian and British militaries and was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the U.S. CDC in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Global Health Fellow with the United States Agency for International Development in Washington DC.
