The Building Service Contractors Association of Australia Queensland branches has again recognised the commitment and endeavour of its members and their people. The Association’s AustralianSuper Excellence Awards 2011 dinner was a fitting event at which to acknowledge quality service delivery as well as the support of sponsors.

The Awards function was held at the Queensland Cricketers’ Club, Brisbane, on 18th November. It was attended by BSC employer executives and their teams as well as sponsor company executives.

Corporate performer and comedian, Steve Haddan was master of ceremonies for the night of presentations, industry friendship and then music and dancing.

BSCAA Queensland president, Brian Ellem paid tribute to the Awards’ sponsors and the support of his members.

The major sponsor, AustralianSuper, was supported by EBM, Lennox Institute, Satisfaction Software, CPSISC, Pacvac, Q Leave and Axiom.

Outstanding Individual Cleaner – South East Queensland
Sponsored by Lennox Institute, this award seeks to recognise an individual who has achieved outstanding success in a professional capacity within the cleaning industry in South East Queensland. The winner of this award must be a part of an organisation who is a member of the BSCAA and a special focus was on the applicants’ industry knowledge, as well as their continual growth and self-development within the cleaning industry.
The winner: Jocelyn Wheeler (Ellems Cleaning Services)

Outstanding Individual Cleaner – Regional Queensland
Sponsored by EBM and CPSISC, this award seeks to recognise an individual who has achieved outstanding success in a professional capacity within the cleaning industry in Regional Queensland. The winner of this award must be a part of an organisation who is a member of the BSCAA and a special focus was on the applicants’ industry knowledge as well as their continual growth and self-development within the cleaning industry.

ecoClean award
This award, sponsored by AustralianSuper, seeks to acknowledge a company who has recognised the need to adopt environmental best practice within their organisation and as a result have been certified as an ecoClean company. Special focus will be on the applicant’s improvements in environmental performance within the workplace and identify innovative changes made that assisted in monitoring and/or minimising the organisation’s environmental impacts.
The winner: Abelia Cleaning (Cairns)

Abelia Cleaning has demonstrated strong commitment to the ecoClean concept, excellence in environmental management practices and continuous improvement. This commitment has been at all levels of management, with strong leadership from Sue Homer. The judges stated that Abelia was able to demonstrate  leadership in environmental management across all aspects of the ecoClean program, especially in the areas of Environmental Action Plans, incorporation of environmental awareness and good practice into on-going training and the development of documented procedures for ensuring good environmental practices for all staff at Certificate level 2.

Outstanding Support Personnel for Associate Members
This award seeks to recognise an individual who has achieved outstanding success in a professional capacity within their support role in a BSCAA associate member. Special focus will be on the applicant’s industry knowledge, outstanding support of their company’s operations, adoption of safety procedures, innovative and customer service initiatives, and the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
The winner: Caroline Forbes of Axiom College
