BSCAA-Computer-(2)The Building Service Contractors Association of Australia (BSCAA) has launched an Online Induction Course to provide a comprehensive safety induction for people looking to work in the Australian cleaning industry and for those currently working in the industry having not completed a formal Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) induction program.

Other course to be offered on the online induction include environmental sustainability, general cleaning (office cleaning), hard floor and carpet cleaning, window cleaning, external cleaning and pressure cleaning, cleaning in healthcare, supervisor and cleaning, and management courses.

“The course has come about as a result of BSCAA’s desire to maintain a well trained professional workforce for the cleaning industry, especially in current times of restraint when funding for industry training has been significantly reduced,” stated national president Terry Corby.

The induction course has been developed in conjunction with Daniels Associates, a leading RTO and covers the knowledge content for three units of competency from the Certificate III in Cleaning Operations.

It is available to the cleaning industry at large at a cost of $29.70 with a further 15% discount being offered to BSCAA members. The course is divided into five sections – Legislation,  Identifying Risks & Hazards Parts 1 and 2, Managing Risks and Hazards and WHS communication, Information and documents.

Dependent upon the candidate’s knowledge and literary skills, the course can take between two to six hours and once enrolled the candidate can enter and leave the course as many times as they like for a period up to six months.  All successful candidates receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion.

The induction course is the first of a series of courses that will be offered to the industry and will be followed in the new year by a number of specific courses on general cleaning (office cleaning), hard floor and carpet cleaning; window cleaning and more.
