Reflecting the company’s ongoing heavy investment in research and development and the export of its intellectual property, Whiteley Corporation has won an ‘Excellence in Export of Manufactured Goods’ award at the 2013 Hunter Manufacturing Awards.

The awards ceremony was held on the 18th October at Newcastle (NSW) Panthers.

Whiteley Corporation celebrated 80 years in business this year and 18 years in the Hunter region manufacturing innovative cleaning and disinfectant products for healthcare and industrial sectors. The company exports to more than 23 countries with strong relationships in the United States, New Zealand and Asia.

“Whiteley Corporation has export embedded into their DNA. We have been working on exporting product from Australia for over 40 years. We work hard at export, we travel extensively, we invest in relationships with our export partners and we persist until we succeed,” stated Whiteley managing director Greg Whiteley.

“Export has been a long term platform for business development and a motivator for innovation. Export is good for our business and it is good for the Hunter Region,” he added.

‘Whiteley Corporation has been relentless in pursuing and developing new export markets. The launch of our new High Level Instrument Disinfectant in March 2013 and prior approval by the US FDA marks a major achievement for our company after nearly five years in development,’ noted the company’s award statement.

‘Whiteley Corporation has had a 15 year relationship with our US partner and this relationship continues to position our products as market leaders in the USA.’

Whiteley’s High Level Instrument Disinfectant also achieved approval in Australia in February 2013 and will be distributed into all of its export markets. Each country in Asia normally has its own product registration system and many do not recognise Australian TGA Registration so testing and data is usually required for each individual regulatory authority.

“Our entire team is involved in the development of our exported goods, from design right through to sales and implementation by overseas partners. Our team travel extensively, both to maintain existing relationships and towards the development of new markets,” Greg Whiteley pointed out.

Research and development is a major focus at Whiteley Corporation, with resources dedicated to internal research as well as funding external research conducted in collaboration with a number of universities.

Whiteley Corporation recently announced the awarding of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Grant in the mid-year 2013 round.
