Dateline Tokyo journalist Charli James went behind the scenes with the Shinkansen bullet train cleaning crew to film their ‘7-Minute Miracle’ turnaround.

Some 323 Shinkasen bullet trains depart Tokyo station daily, carrying 400,000 passengers a day.

The Tessie cleaning crew has just 7 minutes to prepare/clean the train. One cleaner is allocated to one car of 100 seats.

He/she cleans the seats, trays, and floor, as well as lifting shades and turning the seats around (using a magic button).

Each cleaner does 20 cars per shift. The cleaners’ average age is 52.

At the end of each train clean, the cleaning crew lies up and bows, a demonstration of pride and diligence.
