Tennant Australia continues to push the boundaries of commercial cleaning with the introduction of the X6 ROVR, marking a new phase in the evolution of autonomous floor care across Australia’s commercial sectors.
Following the successful rollout of the X4 ROVR in 2025, robotic cleaning has already proved its value in high-traffic retail environments. Now, with the arrival of the X6 ROVR, the conversation moves beyond early adoption and into scaled, operational deployment.
With eight units set to roll out nationally across retail centres from late August, this is more than an expansion. It represents a turning point within the industry where autonomous cleaning is no longer being trialled but embedded into the daily rhythm of commercial operations.
Building on a proven foundation
The X4 ROVR played a pivotal role in establishing autonomous cleaning as a practical, reliable solution in supermarkets and compact retail spaces. Its success across Australian and New Zealand sites laid the groundwork for broader adoption, giving facility managers confidence in the consistency and efficiency of robotic cleaning.
Fast forward to 2026, and Tennant Australia has taken that foundation even further with a solution designed specifically for larger, more complex environments – the X6 ROVR.Â
Meet the X6 ROVR
Engineered specifically for complex commercial settings, the X6 ROVR is capable of leaning up to 75,000 square feet in a single cycle, making it ideally suited to the size and pace of modern shopping centres.
In environments defined by wide corridors, large common areas and extensive floor space, the ability to cover ground efficiently is key. The X6 ROVR’s 650 mm dual-disc scrub path enables it to clean broader areas in fewer passes, maximising productivity during overnight cleaning schedules when large sections of the centre can be addressed in a single cycle.
Its high-capacity 95-litre solution and recovery tanks, combined with up to 6.5 hours of runtime, support extended operation with minimal interruption. This enables a consistent, thorough clean, ensuring floors are ready ahead of daily trade without the need for frequent stops or refills.
Powered by BrainOS®, the X6 ROVR goes beyond traditional automation. Using a combination of advanced sensors, real-time data processing and 3D LiDAR, the machine builds a detailed understanding of its environment as it operates. This allows it to dynamically map spaces, identify obstacles and continuously adjust its path to maintain safe, efficient cleaning routes.
The result is not just faster cleaning, but smarter resource allocation where teams can focus less on large-area tasks and more on detailed, high-touch cleaning that shapes the customer experience.
First X6 ROVR units to hit the ground in August
The national rollout of eight X6 ROVR units across Australia marks a significant step forward in scaling autonomous cleaning within commercial environments. As the first X6 ROVR units to roll out into the country, this deployment sets the benchmark for large-scale adoption.
Strategically placed across key retail centres from late August, each unit is designed to support high-traffic environments where efficiency, reliability and consistency are essential. More than a milestone for Tennant, this rollout reflects growing confidence in autonomous technology as a core part of modern facility operations.
“The rollout of the X6 ROVR marks an exciting next step for Tennant Australia. The X4 set a strong benchmark, and now we’re building on that with a machine that’s not only larger in scale, but smarter in how it operates. It’s a significant move forward in supporting higher cleaning standards across complex retail environments,” says Lisa Atherton, General Manager.
A new standard in motion
The expansion of Tennant’s autonomous fleet in 2026 marks a significant step forward for commercial cleaning. Machines like the X6 ROVR are not only enhancing cleaning performance but reshaping how large-scale environments are managed, maintained and experienced.
As these machines roll out nationwide, autonomous cleaning is moving beyond early adoption into everyday operations. What was once considered emerging technology is now becoming foundational infrastructure.
