Spotless extends SA Health laundry contract

The contract will provide linen and laundry services to 194 SA Health locations across metro and regional South Australia.

Spotless’ 17-year linen contract with SA Health has been extended for another five years to June 2022.

The contract will provide linen and laundry services to 194 SA Health locations across metro and regional South Australia.

“Spotless has had a long and positive relationship with SA Health and we are very pleased to receive an extension of this contract,” said Harley Oaten, Spotless executive general manager, Laundries.

“We look forward to investing further in the partnership, to better support SA Health in providing care to their patients.

“We are heavily investing in our Dudley Park Laundry — in infrastructure upgrades and energy-efficient equipment – as part of our commitment to continue offering high quality processing, management and delivery services,” Oaten said.

Spotless has stated that the partnership will explore opportunities for improved sustainability and efficient practices. The application of radio frequency identification (RFID) tagging to track high volume linen is also being examined. RFID tagging will enable Spotless to monitor linen usage and inventory for better management practices, as well as provide quality assurance.

Spotless began providing linen services to the healthcare provider after acquiring the Central Linen business from the State Government in January 2000, and grew the Dudley Park Laundry to employ more than 300 people and support more than 397 local businesses.

Spotless also provides linen and laundry services to other major healthcare facilities in Australia, including Ramsay Health, Healthscope, WA Health and HealtheCare.
