SC Johnson updates progress on reducing plastic pollution

SC Johnson makes significant progress toward 2025 targets to reduce plastic pollution.

SC Johnson, parent company of SC Johnson Professional,  announced the company has made significant progress toward its 2025 targets to reduce plastic pollution.

According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s second annual report on the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, SC Johnson has increased the amount of post-consumer recycled plastic content in its packaging from 6 per cent last year to 14 per cent in 2020.

In addition, 62 per cent of SC Johnson products are designed for recyclable, compostable, or reusable storage. The company has also partnered to advance a circular economy for plastic packaging.

“SC Johnson teams are continuing to create products and packaging that give consumers more sustainable options,” said Fisk Johnson, SC Johnson chairman and CEO.

“We all have a responsibility to address this critical environmental issue, but equally none of us can solve this challenge alone. It will take a unified effort from business, government, and civil society to create a circular plastic economy.”
