With its just announced acquisition of Asia Pacific Brands Pty Ltd (APB), Sabco says it has further entrenched itself as a producer and distributor of high-quality commercial and domestic cleaning products and solutions.

‘The acquisition is an important strategic step for Sabco as it continues to grow and reinvigorate itself, and will give it a significant position in the critical scourer/cloths and car care accessories market,’ stated the company’s release.

‘APB’s signature Mr Clean and Turtle Wax position in the car care market range have been extremely popular and successful with customers throughout Australia and New Zealand.’

Sabco’s chief executive officer Herman Verhofstadt explained that the acquisition had been many months in the making, and was a vital step for Sabco as it looks to diversify into market segments that represent a good strategic fit for the company.

“Our acquisition of Asia Pacific Brands is a terrific opportunity for Sabco to further entrench itself in this important market, whilst significantly enhancing Sabco’s product portfolio and know how,” Verhofstadt said.

“The Mr Clean range is a good platform for Sabco to bring its successful formula into the cloth and scourer market,” he added.

Sabco has been an active and successful player in the domestic and commercial cleaning products market in Australia and New Zealand since it was established in 1892 as the South Australian Brush Company. Over 120 years, Sabco has progressively diversified from a cleaning brush manufacturer to its position today as a maker and marketer of high quality cleaning products found in homes and businesses throughout Australia.

APB is an Australian-owned and operated business with a similar focus on domestic and commercial cleaning solutions, primarily through the well recognised Mr Clean range of scourers and cloths.

Verhofstadt pointed out that, APB’s acquisition was “an important step on Sabco’s journey of achieving its vision of being the ‘must-have’ brand in commercial and domestic cleaning, and that quality and innovation would continue to be key drivers for the company moving forward.

“Quality and innovation are at the forefront of everything we do at Sabco, and have been a vital part of our success over 120 years,” he emphasised.

“The Mr Clean range is known for being highly innovative and represents terrific value, and also complements the high quality standards and innovation benchmarks Sabco has established for all of our cleaning products and solutions. Turtle Wax is one of the world’s best known automotive cleaning brands.  This combined with Sabco ‘know how’ on how to make the best quality products, will deliver state of the art car care.

“Through the acquisition, Sabco looks forward to building on that reputation for quality,” he said.

Verhofstadt emphasised that Sabco and APB customers and suppliers could have every assurance of a seamless transition of APB’s established product range and operations with that of Sabco, along with continuity of supply through existing wholesale and retail channels.

“We’ve established a dedicated steering committee to coordinate the transition, and have also appointed an experienced sales manager whose sole focus is to introduce customers to the new Mr Clean range.

“While some changes will be inevitable over time, Sabco will work closely with customers and suppliers and keep them informed of any future changes and improvements in a timely and constructive fashion,” he concluded.
