Sabco Australia has acquired Oakwood Products for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition follows the recent purchase of Asia Pacific Brands P/L and the Mr Clean & Turtle Wax (Accessories) brands, part of the business’s strategic intent to move into new market segments.

Sabco CEO Herman Verhofstadt, described the Oakwood range of products as “a straightforward fit” and said its offering would further enhance the broader Sabco stable of brands.

Verhofstadt said Oakwood, a family-operated business, will remain separate to Sabco and will keep its operations based in its home market of Newcastle, NSW.

Oakwood’s main ranges include household, automotive and pet care. Verhofstadt said Oakwood will also assist Sabco enter the chemical market, a segment the company has been eyeing.  Another emerging market for Sabco is pet care, with Oakwood currently offering a range of pet grooming supplies.

Verhofstadt said the company will also consider expanding its commercial cleaning products.

“We will look into that but we don’t have an answer on it yet. [Oakwood] is a global business – selling into the US, China, UK, Taiwan because the product is so unique so we want to try and capitalise on it.”
