The US-based Restoration Industry Association (RIA) is coming to Australia this September. For the first time, RIA is bringing its Certified Restorer (CR) and Water Loss Specialist (WLS) prerequisite course, Building Science, to Australian technicians.

Courses will be held in Brisbane on 25 September 2015 and Perth on 29 September 2015.

‘Stand out in the industry by obtaining your CR or WLS credentials today,’ encourages the RIA.

Participants will focus on the effects of water on different materials, the interdependent system, and how this affects water migration, as well as how buildings ‘behave’ in response to moisture. The course will go into the effects of water on drywall, insulation, concrete, wood, masonry and steel framing.

This course will be taught by Christopher Schumacher, a principal at Building Science Consulting Inc.

Schumacher has led the design, installation, and analysis of monitoring projects both in the lab and in field locations around the globe.

‘You won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best in the restoration and reconstruction industry,’ states the RIA.
