Reginald Whiteley presented the inaugural Whiteley Corporation Award for Sustained Improvement at the NSW division of the Building Service Contractors Association of Australia’s (BSCAA) AustralianSuper Excellence Awards 2016 on Wednesday 12 October.
After working in the cleaning industry for more than 60 years, Whiteley Corporation has described Reginald as a living example of a sustainable commitment to long service within the cleaning industry.
In 1971, Reginald purchased the Australian General Disinfectant Company. This led to a collaboration with Professor Yvonne Cossart at the University of Sydney, who at the time, was BOSCH Professor of Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine.
Reginald and Professor Cossart worked together in regards to cleaning, disinfection and viruses which led to world breakthroughs in disinfection testing, including the first non-chimpanzee based Hepatitis B Group Virus disinfectant test and the first ever biofilm testing model for endoscopes.
