Quayclean Australia has taken up a major role at Edith Cowan University (ECU), delivering a strong start built on collaboration, service quality and sustainability.
Chief executive officer Mark Piwkowski says careful mobilisation and close coordination with ECU’s systems have built a reliable partnership across all campus locations. Daily cleaning and deep attention to high-touch areas now uphold the presentation standards expected throughout the university’s learning and social spaces.
ECU remains one of Western Australia’s most recognised institutions for academic excellence and environmental leadership, and Piwkowski says the staff response has been both generous and encouraging.
“We’ve received numerous unsolicited emails and messages praising the quality of work, the open communication, and the friendly, smiling and polite nature of our workers,” he says.
One message following a campus event read, ‘In my whole working career I have never come across such an amazing service from a cleaning supervisor’. Piwkowski says this feedback reflects the culture Quayclean has worked to build, where teams feel supported, heard and empowered to take pride in the environments they maintain.
He says the transparent relationship with ECU has delivered operational flexibility and responsiveness, allowing the teams to refine workflows, streamline processes and evolve the service as campus needs shift.
A core pillar of performance has been Quayclean’s direct employment model.
“All Quayclean workers are directly employed under the Cleaning Services Award. There is no sub-contracting of services, and this continuity has allowed us to identify new leaders who we will support with career development and training to advance their careers with the company,” Piwkowski says.
The ECU agreement expands Quayclean’s presence in the education sector and strengthens its commitment to high-quality, sustainable service. The company now supports more than 80 educational sites across Australia and continues to lead initiatives that improve hygiene, reduce waste and promote environmentally responsible practices in schools and universities.
