Quayclean is marshalling its cleaning teams across Australia to keep over one million spectators, players, and officials COVID safe when the eagerly awaited men’s and women’s Ashes Test series and the Big Bash League (BBL) competition commences this week.
In a massive nationwide operation, Quayclean will manage cleaning, hygiene, waste, and sustainability management services for three men’s Ashes Test matches at the Gabba, Adelaide Oval and SCG, 33 of the 56 preliminary BBL games across eight different venues, plus the women’s Ashes series fixtures over an intensive eight-week period.
In addition to the Gabba, Adelaide Oval and SCG men’s Test match venues, BBL matches will also be played at Marvel Stadium, Sydney Showground, Manuka Oval, Metricon Stadium and GMHBA Stadium while women’s Ashes series fixtures will be played at Manuka Oval and Adelaide Oval.
Quayclean CEO, Mark Piwkowski, said months of detailed planning has been undertaken by his teams and venue managers as Australia’s major sports stadia welcome fans back to live cricket action.
“Our awesome double vaccinated staff are very excited to see spectators flock to our cricket venues this summer. The Ashes series and the BBL will see massive crowds and we are committed to ensure the health and safety of all attendees throughout the summer,” said Piwkowski.
“COVID safe cleaning, hygiene and waste management plans have been developed for each venue. Match day attendees will be comforted to see our staff working continuously during play to service high traffic public areas such as handrails, door handles, taps, lift buttons and toilets using TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approved products.
“In an added layer of protection for players and umpires, disinfectant fogging machines will be used in dressing rooms after each day of play,” he said.
Piwkowski said waste management and sustainability will also be a priority.
“We will be separating dry co-mingled waste, food waste, paper, cardboard and drink containers and diverting up to 90 per cent of total waste away from landfill,” said Piwkowski.
With the Queensland, NSW, Victorian and South Australian borders re-opening, Piwkowski said the company will use the opportunity for staff to travel interstate as part of their development and career progression.
“Each cricket venue is different in layout and facilities and they each have individual characteristics which are unique. We are very eager to expand the knowledge and experience of our staff and we are especially keen to promote individuals from within the company,” he said.
