Quayclean Australia, already the nation’s largest provider of cleaning and hygiene services to private schools and colleges, has cemented its dominance in the education sector by securing the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle (CDMN) schools contract, the single biggest private school agreement in the company’s 23-year history.
Encompassing 58 schools, 14 St Nicholas Early Education centres and more than 21,000 students, the three-year agreement extends Quayclean’s private education portfolio to over 150 sites across Australia. The contract covers a vast stretch of New South Wales’s east coast, reaching from Lake Macquarie in the south to Taree in the north and as far west as Merriwa and Murrurundi.
A partnership built on shared values
Quayclean chief executive Mark Piwkowski described the win as a profound vote of confidence in the company’s expertise, noting that schools across the country are increasingly turning to specialist providers for cleaning, hygiene and waste management services.
“The CDMN wanted a provider with deep experience in educational cleaning and facility management who holds similar values of delivering beyond expectation, being customer-obsessed and recognising achievement,” Piwkowski said.
With a dedicated focus on creating safe environments that are hygienic and conducive to student and staff wellbeing, Quayclean has pledged to align its operations fully with CDMN’s ethos while delivering strong sustainability outcomes across all 72 sites.
CDMN COO Lisa Tierney welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Quayclean would help foster the conditions needed for academic excellence across the Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Manning and Hunter regions.
Mobilisation well underway
Since the contract’s commencement, Quayclean has moved swiftly through its mobilisation phase, with the rollout led by NSW/ACT general manager Gino Di Cola and supported by a cross-functional team spanning operations, workforce, assets and people and culture. Experienced facility management executive Scott Sarich has been appointed as Newcastle regional manager to provide dedicated on-the-ground leadership.
Piwkowski highlighted that all staff are directly employed under the Cleaning Services Award 2020, with no sub-contracted workers, and will have access to the company’s Quay Academy training programs to develop their skills and advance their careers.
