Quayclean Australia has secured the cleaning services contract for Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, marking its 10th venue across the National Rugby League footprint and strengthening its presence in Queensland’s major events infrastructure.
The 25,000-seat stadium, home to the North Queensland Cowboys, now joins a portfolio that spans some of the country’s highest profile venues, with Quayclean already servicing Accor Stadium, Allianz Stadium, CommBank Stadium and Jubilee Stadium in Sydney, alongside Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast, McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, WIN Stadium in Wollongong, GIO Stadium in Canberra and AAMI Park in Melbourne.
The appointment also expands the company’s footprint within Stadiums Queensland venues, adding to existing contracts at The Gabba and Cbus Super Stadium.
Scaling operations across sport and entertainment
Beyond sport, Queensland Country Bank Stadium operates as a major outdoor concert venue, having hosted global acts including P!nk, The Killers, Jelly Roll and Elton John, a factor that introduces additional complexity in cleaning and waste management operations across varied event formats.
The contract win follows Quayclean’s recent appointment by the University of Queensland to manage cleaning services across campus sites in Brisbane as well as regional and remote locations, signalling steady growth across both education and large scale events sectors.
Quayclean chief executive Mark Piwkowski says the company’s approach centres on delivering a high quality service that enhances both the fan experience and the venue’s reputation.
“We have a reputation as an industry leader in the provision of high quality cleaning and waste management services for large-scale operations, and we understand the skills required to manage a stadium which hosts over 300,000 patrons every year,” Piwkowski says.
That scale brings a sharper focus on sustainability, with Quayclean positioning waste reduction and resource recovery as core components of the contract. Piwkowski confirmed the company will work closely with stadium operators to drive measurable improvements in environmental performance.
“Quayclean is synonymous with sustainability and industry leading waste management strategies and we will collaborate with the stadium operators and stakeholders to achieve a year-on-year reduction in total tonnes of waste generated on-site, ensure that more than 85 percent of total waste generated is sent for reuse, recycling or repurposing, and maximise community engagement and knowledge,” he says.
The company also plans to deploy detailed data tracking to better understand waste streams and identify opportunities for improvement.
“By providing tailored, detailed insights into waste generation and disposal patterns, we can identify specific areas for improvement and implement targeted strategies and ensure compliance with the stadium’s sustainability goals and regulations,” he says.
As major venues continue to evolve into multi-use destinations with year-round programming, contracts of this scale highlight the growing expectation placed on cleaning providers to deliver operational precision alongside environmental accountability.
