OCS sells composting business to Frontier Group Partners

Five years after purchasing Envirocomp, New Zealand facilities management company OCS has announced that it is selling the composting operation to Frontier Group Partners.

New Zealand facilities management company OCS has announced that it is selling its Envirocomp composting operation to Frontier Group Partners, a consortium which includes Envirocomp founder, Karen Ashby.

Envirocomp collects and processes residential and commercial sanitary, incontinence and nappy waste at two facilities in Canterbury and Wellington. Each site has the capacity to process 60,000 items per day, reducing an estimated 7200 tonne of waste from entering landfill in each region.

Five years after OCS purchased Envirocomp from its start-up founders, OCS managing director Gareth Marriott has revealed that it is time for someone else to bring in new innovation and technology.

“OCS New Zealand has made a significant investment in research and development in Envirocomp over the past five years and we look forward to seeing Frontier Group Partners take it to the next phase,” shared Mr Marriott.

Frontier Group Partners intends to review the current operation and is exploring potential opportunities to implement new technology to further enhance the business.

“I’m really excited to be back involved with Envirocomp,” stated Karen Ashby. “Obviously it’s a business that I have had a great passion for and I’m delighted to be working with Frontier Group Partners Ltd to take it to the next level.”

Mr Marriott said that OCS remains committed to operating in an environmentally sustainable manner across its wider facilities management business and has developed a range of services that are designed to reduce energy, water use and landfill waste.
