Nilfisk has marked 120 years of innovation in cleaning technology with a milestone event in Melbourne, bringing together customers, partners and staff to reflect on the company’s global legacy and long standing presence in Australia.
Held at Denmark House on 19 March, the event welcomed Nilfisk president and CEO Jon Sintorn, who joined local stakeholders to recognise the company’s evolution from a small Danish workshop into a global supplier of professional and consumer cleaning solutions operating in more than 100 countries.
A legacy shaped by innovation
Founded in 1906 by engineer P.A. Fisker, Nilfisk built its reputation on practical innovation that responded directly to cleaning challenges.
That same focus continues to guide the business today, with Nilfisk expanding into professional equipment across industries including facilities management, manufacturing and commercial property.
Nilfisk’s connection to Australia dates back to 1958, when it established a dedicated sales office in the region, laying the groundwork for nearly seven decades of local engagement.
Sustainability and future focus
Environmental responsibility has long shaped Nilfisk’s operations, with early initiatives such as refurbishment programs aimed at extending product life and reducing waste. Today, the company continues to prioritise resource efficient design, with equipment engineered to reduce energy, water and chemical use.
Nilfisk has also maintained an EcoVadis Gold rating for four consecutive years and committed to science based targets aligned with a net zero ambition by 2040.
As the company looks ahead, investment in robotics and digital integration is expected to drive the next phase of growth, supporting higher standards of hygiene, safety and operational efficiency across Australia and the Pacific.
