Nilfisk Group has announced the acquisition of Kerrick, Auckland-based specialist in commercial, heavy duty and industrial cleaning equipment operating in both Australia and New Zealand.

‘The acquisition is part of the company’s growth strategy with the aim of playing an active part in the consolidation of the cleaning equipment industry.

‘With Kerrick, Nilfisk’s footprint in the Pacific region will increase and strengthen the company’s position within the professional cleaning business, in particular high-pressure washers,’ stated Nilfisk’s 1 July press statement.

Jonas Persson, president and CEO of Nilfisk Group, commented; “For Nilfisk to acquire Kerrick, which is an established and sizeable supplier of high pressure washers and vacuum cleaners for the professional market in New Zealand and Australia, represents a great opportunity.

“We are constantly looking for opportunities to grow our businesses, through organic growth and through acquisitions. Kerrick’s product portfolio is complimentary to ours and this acquisition provides a footprint in especially New Zealand to drive professional sales and service,” Persson said.

Founded in 1937 by EJ Schofield, Kerrick is a family owned company and James Schofield remains Kerrick’s CEO to this day. Headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand, it has 10 branches across New Zealand and Australia with five in each country.

The branches include wide-ranging sales, service and distribution networks and they are staffed by experienced technicians and offer full workshop facilities, manufacturing, service and repair, as well as mobile onsite servicing and in house training.

This expansion follows the acquisition by Nilfisk of Smithson Equipment [posted here], a significant distributor of large cleaning equipment in the Queensland market in May 2015.
