New look for Precision Flow Solutions

Australian arm of US-based dispensing system undergoes significant restructure to become exclusive distributor for the Oceania region.

The Australian arm of US-based dispensing system manufacturer Hydro Systems has undergone a significant restructure, appointing Precision Flow Solutions the exclusive distributor for the Oceania region.

Managing director of Precision Flow Solutions, Robert Ivers, said the decision to change the way to market was to provide greater flexibility and service, while delivering the entire range of Hydro Systems’ products to the local marketplace.

“Due to strong growth in the Asia Pacific region over the past five years, Hydro Systems chose to appoint an exclusive distributor for the ANZ and Oceania market to continue the growth and increase service levels,” he told INCLEAN.

“Hydro Systems was always focused on service, training and support. We want to take Precision Flow Solutions to the next level where we can offer service installation where required and diversify into other fields.

“We chose the name Precision Flow because it fits nicely with the accuracy and precision of Hydro Products systems.”

Together with the rebrand, Precision Flow Solutions has relocated to a new office and warehouse in Northmead, NSW.

Ivers said the move to a more compact warehouse in the centre of Sydney was a result of Precision Flow Solutions focusing on local business.

“Although the new facility is marginally smaller, the layout has been established with a 20 per cent increase in pallet spaces allowing for future growth and ensuring PFS always have sufficient stock holdings to service the market,” said Ivers.

“Our regional sales manager Alex Gray, is based in Brisbane, so we have on the ground coverage up there. As we expand, we’d like to see more resources and people in different states. I’d like to think we’ll have someone in another state next year, but we’re still in the early stages yet.”

Hydro Systems first entered the Sydney market in 2005, targeting a variety of markets, including the cleaning and hygiene industry, laundry industry, and warewash (commercial dishwashers) industry. This year, PFS has plans to grow into adjacent markets to add additional value to the current supply chain.

“An immediate opportunity exists to close the current knowledge gap in the industry around requirements to install additional backflow prevention devices when it is not needed,” said Ivers.

“It is currently a very grey area for some people, and we have seen situations where very expensive backflow prevention devices have been installed unnecessarily. PFS has in-house plumbing qualifications to install and test backflow prevention devices.”

While Precision Flow Solutions will continue to supply Hydro Systems products, Ivers said there is a chance it will introduce other products if opportunities present in complementary and adjacent markets.

“I believe Hydro Systems has an extensive range to serve our current market that has a solid and proven reputation of quality, precision and reliability, so I can see no need to expand across the same platform.”

Precision Flow Solutions is also set to launch a new website dedicated to the Australian market at the beginning of May, featuring the entire range of Hydro Systems products, including the water-powered laundry application EvoClean, which won the 2018 ISSA Innovation of the Year Award.

“We have been supplying the EvoClean to customers in Australia and New Zealand over the past two years and have seen the substantial cost savings and operational efficiencies this innovative technology brings the commercial laundry industry and chemical companies,” said Ivers.

“The website will be an information platform providing products insights and specifications for the current Hydro range.”

Towards the end of 2019, Precision Flow Solutions is set to launch Hydro Systems’ products focused on the Internet of Things and connectivity, such as Hydro Connect.

Hydro Connect is a cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) platform that gives chemical providers and end users increased visibility into their operations, optimises production, reduces costs and increases customer satisfaction.

“Hydro Connect is available from the Commercial Laundry Dositec range we supply and have installed across Australia and New Zealand over the past two years. It works exceptionally well in the commercial laundry applications.”
