Over the past 12 months the National Cleaning Suppliers Association (NCSA) has been very active on a number of fronts, notably strengthening its state organisations; building a new website; and being a key player in the Cleaning and Hygiene Council of Australia.
The NCSA national and NSW annual general meetings were held at Rydges, Rosehill (Sydney) on 25 August, which saw ‘fresh blood’ being added to the boards.
Gerry Goldberg (Pall Mall Manufacturing) was re-elected national president, supported by incumbent vice president Stuart Nicol (Sabco), treasurer Ivan Imerman (International Building Supply), secretary Deanne Goonewardene (Davidson) and committee member Kristine Collins (Nayla).
The NSW board is now headed by president Paul Morrall (Lennox Institute), vice president Adam Magnoli (Tennant Company) and treasury/secretary Averil Smith (Bunzl).
Goldberg paid tribute to outgoing national treasurer Lynne Wilcox, noting “she has served (the NCSA) so well for so many years. He also thanked Terry Fraser, “who really does deliver much more than his pound of flesh as CEO in terms of time expended.”
Wilcox reported that the national body had achieved a 2011 profit while overall state branch bank balances were in a healthy state. In fact the NCSA is financially well placed to nurture state branch growth.
Capitalising on the national CleanScene show, Goldberg told members that, “we must extend the range of activities we embark on. We need to re-look at regional exhibitions. We need viable branches that can all help to finance our structure.”
He noted that Victoria, to-date led by Peter Moskovic, is the NCSA’s most active state branch. There has been a change in presidency and now Geoff Shearer has taken those reins. “Queensland has had a tough time over the last few years,” Goldberg said. “Queensland (now has) an enthusiastic new president in Craig Jones. Now is the time to start to build.”
South Australia, which had been one of the Association’s most active branches, has been moribund in recent years. However, a recent visit by the national body to Adelaide received an enthusiastic response from local members and that State has excellent growth prospects.
NSW, so closely geographically aligned with the national body, has been relatively quiet. However, outgoing president Sue Wilton emphasised that behind the scene solid work has been done on a number of fronts and that the State is well positioned for growth.
The NCSA’s new website is close to completion and content is being loaded. The Association has also reach an agreement with FM magazine for that title to run cleaning editorial, complemented with gratis subscriptions for all NCSA members.
The NCSA, as a founding member, will assist in the CHCA’s funding and an allocation has been made.
