There’s just one day until the ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo – Australasia’s premier event for the cleaning and facilities solutions industry. The show returns to Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 October 2025.
Organised by ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, this two-day event will bring together leading suppliers, innovators, and professionals from across Australia and beyond. With local and international exhibitors representing more than eight countries, the show floor will showcase the latest products, services and technologies driving progress across the cleaning, hygiene and facilities solutions industry.
The event kicks off with the Women in Cleaning & Facility Solutions Breakfast, presented by the ISSA Hygieia Network.
This year’s theme, Resilience & Growth: Empowering Leadership in Cleaning & Facilities Solutions, explores how adaptability and resilience are shaping leadership across the industry.
Guest speaker Sonia McDonald, CEO and Founder of LeadershipHQ, will share powerful insights on leading with courage, balance, and grace – reminding us that true leadership is not about perfection, but about rising stronger after every challenge. A panel of industry leaders will follow, offering practical advice on career growth, overcoming obstacles, and creating inclusive workplaces that uplift women at all levels. Open to everyone, this inspiring breakfast is a celebration of connection, empowerment and leadership in our sector.
Throughout the two-day Expo, the Business Solutions Theatre will host a continuous stream of expert-led education sessions exploring the industry’s most critical topics – from infection prevention and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), robotics and automation and data-driven decision-making, to cleaning verification, workplace wellbeing, evolving standards and the creation of healthier indoor environments.
In addition to the on-floor education, attendees can participate in four in-depth paid workshops designed to deliver practical, hands-on learning:
AI Skills for Real-World Cleaning Businesses – Artificial intelligence is transforming how cleaning and hygiene businesses operate, from winning clients to managing daily communications. In this hands-on session, AI trainer and consultant Simon Hillier will demonstrate how tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot can streamline key business functions. Attendees will learn how to define their ideal customer, research competitors, create marketing content and produce professional proposals and presentations in a fraction of the time.
Designed with practicality in mind, the workshop focuses on clear examples and prompts that participants can use immediately, no technical background required. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops to take full advantage of the guided exercises and walk away with handouts and templates to put AI to work in their own businesses.
Selection of Surfaces – Strategic support for infection prevention healthcare and aged care environments face unique challenges in preventing infection, with cleaning practices often undermined by the very surfaces they aim to protect. Led by Linda Lybert from the Healthcare Surfaces Institute, this workshop explores how smarter material choices can make a significant difference in reducing HAIs.
Through real-world examples and the latest research, attendees will uncover the science behind how microbes interact with surfaces and learn why effective infection control goes beyond cleaning alone. The session will help participants understand antimicrobial resistance, surface evaluation and the limitations of IFUs, providing actionable strategies to enhance hygiene outcomes across healthcare and aged care facilities.
The Ultimate Guide to 2025 Regulatory Changes for Cleaning Professionals – With major legislative reforms taking effect in 2025, cleaning professionals need to stay ahead of the compliance curve. Industry expert Lorraine Rogic will break down the key updates across WHS, HR, EPA and Fair Work regulations, translating complex legal language into clear, practical advice.
This in-depth workshop will help business owners, managers and cleaners understand their new obligations, avoid penalties and strengthen workplace safety and culture. Attendees will leave with practical tools to ensure compliance, safeguard their workforce and protect business reputation in the face of Australia’s evolving regulatory environment.
Mould Matters – Navigating the New Standard for Safer Buildings Australia’s frequent flooding and humidity issues has made mould management a growing concern across homes, schools and workplaces. Led by Associate Professor Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner from ISSA’s Global Biorisk Advisory Council and Doug Hoffman from NORMI, this workshop delves into the health risks of mould exposure and the critical importance of adhering to science-based remediation standards.
With the release of the new AS-IICRC S520:2025 Standard for Mould Remediation, attendees will gain practical guidance on implementing best practices, building compliant remediation operations and developing skilled teams. Combining global insights with local regulatory expertise, this session is a must for professionals aiming to deliver safer, healthier indoor environments.
Innovation and networking will be a key focus for the 2025 Expo. On 29 October, attendees can unwind and connect at the Expo Networking and Drinks Function, featuring canapés, refreshments and the chance to meet peers, suppliers and thought leaders from across the sector. The evening will also see the announcement of the ISSA Excellence Award winners –one of the most anticipated moments on the Expo calendar.
