ISS Facility Services has won a new contract with Northern Health, to provide catering and cleaning services across five sites in Melbourne’s North. The official contract signing took place on 1 March, as services commenced following a 10 week mobilisation phase.

‘This win is significant as it is the first time the hospital has changed provider in 17 years. It also grows the ISS portfolio of hospitals in Victoria, which currently includes four sites for Eastern Health, The Royal Women’s hospital, St Vincent’s Private and a number of other private facilities,’ stated ISS’ press release.

ISS said it is ‘committed to expanding the delivery of health services across the country and continuing to bring innovation and service excellence to the industry. Self-delivery is a key differentiator and allows the building of multi-skilled teams who work smarter without compromising service standards, allowing clinical staff to focus on patient care’.

Northern Health is the key provider of public healthcare in Melbourne’s northern region. Acute and sub-acute health services cover a local community of approximately 728,000 people. Its emergency department is the busiest in the state, treating nearly 70,000 patients annually. Northern Health’s campuses include Broadmeadows Health Service, Bundoora Extended Care Centre, Craigieburn Health Service, PANCH Health Service and The Northern Hospital.

According to ISS, ‘investment in new equipment and an innovative solution, to increase the quality and flexibility of meal service, were parts of the winning tender solution’. While tendered separately, ISS was awarded both the cleaning and catering contracts for Northern, allowing for an integrated approach.

  1. I am an experienced cleaner and have worked at Latrobe university since 1984 . I have worked in many areas of Latrobe university, even in high profile areas such as the Vice Chancellor area. I have currently been stood down and I am uncertain regarding future employment as there was rumors that they might not need as many cleaner under a new contract.
I am interested in part-time work and I know I would be very valuable to any employer as I have a high standard of cleaning.
I would be grateful if you have any positions available at this time.

    Kind regards
    Rosemary napoa.
