ISS_Windmill_picmonkeyedISS Australia has commenced its first village management contract in Queensland. The company is now providing all support services to run the Windmill Village, Wandoan, a 447-persons village over a three year contract term.

A modern accommodation complex, Windmill Village was established in 2013 to serve clients operating in the Surat Basin Resources Hub.

Across Western Australia, ISS manages 16 villages for major mining clients, with more than 1,000 employees and serving over 7.2 million meals per year.

Until securing the Windmill Village contract, 100 percent of ISS’ village management business had been servicing clients in WA’s iron ore industry.

‘The Queensland market proved more difficult, where the majority of projects focus on coal mining and liquefied natural gas exploration, and ISS has worked hard to find a strategic entry point into the region,’ explained ISS.

‘Winning the contract at Windmill Village is credit to ISS’ expertise in establishing the best “village experience” for its customers’ workforce.’

Phillip Thomson, ISS Australia’s executive general manager, resources , commented that, “Windmill Village is a strategically important win for ISS and establishes an important foothold in Queensland. Our highly trained employees are already creating a ‘home away from home’ for Windmill residents and our extensive industry relationships will no doubt promote village occupancy.”

The ISS ‘Windmill Village Services Team’ provides a full range of services, including accommodation management, catering, village cleaning, housekeeping and running the tavern.

Owned by Shadforth Property Trust, Windmill Village is located near the remote township of Wandoan in central Queensland, about 400 km from Brisbane. It currently includes accommodation rooms, dining facilities, a tavern, laundries and associated facilities to cater for a total of 447 residents, with approval for a total of 715 rooms should demand increase.
