IICRC issues revised floor covering inspection standard

IICRC publishes revised standard for textile floor covering inspection and cleaning.

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has published a revised standard for textile floor covering inspection and cleaning.

The seventh edition of ANSI/IICRC S100 Standard for Professional Cleaning of Textile Floor Coverings describes procedures and precautions for inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of textile floor coverings in residential, commercial, and professional buildings.

The updated standard details the health effects of exposure to microbial contamination, administrative and risk management procedures, equipment best practices, and more.

The revised standard makes no attempt to evaluate individual cleaning methods, or to compare or contrast systems, products, or equipment.

Stephen Lewis, IICRC standard chair, said the revised ANSI/IICRC 2021 S100 is full of updated information that will benefit all who choose to use it.

” The magic behind this revision is that our committee of industry-recognised professionals, with diverse training and technical backgrounds, were able to agree on the cleaning fundamentals of various textile floorcovering cleaning systems used to maintain and clean carpets and rugs.”
