German chemical and consumer goods company Henkel is reportedly in talks to buy Sealed Air’s cleaning division Diversey Care, with the sale price anticipated to exceed $3 billion, according to The New York Post.
Sealed Air announced in October last year its plans to launch a spin-off of its Diversey Care division and the food hygiene and cleaning business.
At the time of the announcement the company said the spin-off would take effect in the second half of 2017.
However, sources told The Post Sealed Air is also pursuing a sale of Diversey Care as part of a dual process.
“Private-equity firms want to bid for it, but Henkel is in there” and it may pay more, one source said.
“This could be a spin, but it sounds to me like a sale is even more likely,” a Sealed Air analyst said.
