Cleaning and property Services provider GJK Facility Services has announced the appointment of its director George Stamas to the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA Australia) board of directors.

One of the largest privately owned providers of soft services in Australia, GJK believes a strong relationship with clients and industry has ensured its continued growth throughout 25 years of operation.

“FMA Australia is the peak national body for facilities management and I feel honoured to be given this valuable opportunity to contribute to the great work they do in shaping and influencing the industry. Serving on the board will also provide the forum for working alongside industry leaders to ensure that cleaning service providers can continue to meet the changing demands of our industry,” Stamas said.

FMA Australia chairman Steve Taylor believes Stamas’s 30 years’ knowledge and experience within the industry will make a significant contribution to the board of directors, while enhancing FMA Australia’s commitment to inspire change in facilities management.

“FMA Australia board of directors is pleased to welcome George as his unique skills and experience within the industry are directly aligned to the successful implementation of the new strategic direction of FMA Australia. He is committed to sustainable work and business practices and believes in educating and up-skilling young professionals in the facility management sector,” Taylor noted.

A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Stamas’s contribution and advocacy of the Australian FM industry also saw him nominated and elected to the FMA Australia Victorian branch committee in 2004, and to the FM action agenda committee in 2005. Stamas was subsequently elected FMA Australia Victorian vice-chairman in 2007 and Victorian chairman in 2008. He has now stood down from this position due to his new appointment.
