Ecolabel Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) has appointed current acting CEO Michelle Thomas as the company’s new permanent CEO.
Thomas, who joined GECA in 2019 as general manager, took over the role of acting CEO following the resignation of Kate Harris last year, after more than four years in the role.
“I made a conscious decision to work in an organisation that was making a positive impact on the planet. For me, GECA stands out as an organisation with a passion for creating a sustainable future,” said Thomas.
Thomas said she is eager to continue her role leading the team in working toward better sustainable solutions for consumption and production and supporting licensees on their journey of improvement.
Patrick Walker, chair of GECA’s board, said the board is delighted with the way Thomas has led the team and the business through the disruption and turbulent economic circumstances experienced in 2020.
“This appointment is well-deserved and is a tribute to Michelle’s calm and experienced approach,” said Walker.
