Australia’s eagerly anticipated 2018 Best Bathroom Competition – brought to you by Initial and Total Facilities, 18-19 April 2018– is coming to an exciting close, with the judges announcing the top four well-deserving finalists: NSW has come up trumps with three out of the top four – Merrylands RSL Club, Memocorp’s 259 George Street and Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College and one southern representation in the Tasmanian Land Conservancy.

Judges were impressed with the high calibre of submissions received from around the country deciding on these outstanding top four finalists:

Merrylands RSL Club, Sydney’s 5-star quality bathrooms boast features and finishes rarely seen in our nation’s clubs. The seven luxurious, private female cubicles with individual basins and stylish accessories and inlay metallic bronze feature tiles are a standout.

259 George Street / Memocorp with its ultimate commuter and cyclist arrival facilities far exceeding the luxury of any first class airline lounge. 25 personal change suites with warm timber and Japanese tiles harmonise, indulge and captivate the modern worker.

Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College’s simple yet elegant bathroom facilities offer the latest sanitary technologies and sustainable practices. Tinted with bold yet tasteful splashes of colour, the college’s amenities are a huge leap forward from a traditional student ‘amenities block’.

Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC) for its remote area, waterless pod-designed toilet on beautiful Skullbone Plains Reserve in Tasmania. TLC’s loo with a view is good for the environment, uses no water, has minimal odour and is low maintenance.

The ultimate winner will be revealed at 12pm on Wednesday 18 April at Total Facilities, Australia’s largest facilities management exhibition. Entries were extremely competitive this year but the judges overwhelming agreed on two of the nation’s most commendable public bathroom facilities to make the shortlist:

Adelaide International Airport with its a touch free bathroom facilities incorporating a Dolphin ALAVO wash system to ensure the ultimate hygiene. The fixtures are extremely maintenance friendly with all components easily accessible behind an impressive hinged mirror system.

Children Hospital at Westmead with its first for an Australian hospital – an accredited changing place facility. Created as a result of parent feedback, this spacious and innovative bathroom facility meets the needs of families with adult sized disabled children.

“The aim of the competition is not only to advocate washroom wellbeing, but also to encourage awareness of some of the best bathrooms in Australia among facilities and workplace management professionals,” says Andrew Lawson, Total Facilities event manager.

“It’s really exciting to see such a broad representation of facilities in the shortlist this year – from municipal works to education facilities, health care sector, Corporate Real Estate and facilities management”, he adds.

“We have been so impressed with the quality of competition entries this year. The level of innovation and adoption of new technologies has been outstanding and we are thrilled to be part of this national competition,” says Tania Dalton, Initial’s Marketing Business Partner.
