The cleaning and environmental business of MITIE, the (UK) FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, has changed its name to Environmental +. The new name reflects its integrated approach to the provision of soft services, with ‘a more joined-up sustainable offering for clients’.
MITIE’s Environmental + business is one of the UK’s largest providers of cleaning, pest control, landscaping, waste recycling and winter gritting, with more than 32,000 employees working across the UK. Its client base is varied and includes airports, major supermarkets, cinema chains and government departments.
In an 11 April 2013 release, MITIE noted that ‘increasingly, its client base expects a “joined-up” service delivery, preferring to receive services from just one provider, leading to cost savings and improved metrics.
‘The new approach from Environmental + is also with a view to increasing efficiencies and saving client resources in areas such as energy and water, as one soft services provider can lead to a huge reduction in carbon footprints.’
“With our name change it really is a case of ‘not business as usual’,” promised David Johnson, Environmental +’s managing director. “We have realigned the way our team works so that there is a truly seamless operational delivery for the benefit of our clients.”
Environmental + is also highly committed to innovation…
“For over 25 years we have been at the forefront of our industries, pioneering real innovations that have been game changers, technology-wise,” emphasised Johnson. “Our introduction of Lean Six Sigma, with our own Lean Academy and lean software, is now changing the way the industry operates.”
