Cleanstar has been named a finalist in the Resource Sector Business category of the 2025 National AEMEE Awards, celebrating Indigenous excellence in resources and energy. Presented by the Aboriginal Enterprises in Mining, Energy and Exploration (AEMEE), the awards recognise Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, leaders and organisations driving innovation, collaboration and positive impact across Australia’s resources and energy sectors.
The nomination celebrates Cleanstar’s commitment to innovation guided by cultural respect and sustainability, reflected in its breakthrough product, the ACTIV8. Designed as a fusion of Indigenous values and modern technology, the ACTIV8 embodies a philosophy that honours both the dignity of the land and the people who care for it.
“At the heart of ACTIV8 is an understanding that good design respects the environment and those who work within it,” a Cleanstar spokesperson said.
The ACTIV8 was developed with respect to the land to minimise energy use by cutting vacuuming time in half, operating quietly, and supporting longevity through repairable design. By improving dirt pickup, extending carpet life and enhancing air quality, the product contributes to healthier spaces and more sustainable outcomes.
The cleaner’s experience was also a core design focus. By reducing strain and fatigue, the ACTIV8 supports comfort, safety and efficiency for cleaning professionals, improving both wellbeing and productivity.
Cleanstar’s design team drew inspiration from the resilience and creativity inherent in Indigenous ingenuity, resulting in a product that is adaptable, forward-thinking and rooted in purpose. The ACTIV8’s black and red colour scheme pays tribute to Australia’s Indigenous heritage, symbolising respect, strength and connection to Country.
