Total Facilities Expo was marketed as a ‘vibrant marketplace that brings together facilities professionals and solutions providers’ where delegates can ‘discover better, smarter, cleaner and more efficient ways to run buildings’. With 160 exhibitors, more than 40 learning sessions in three specific theatres, interactive round-table discussions and new product demonstration areas, this description wasn’t far from the truth with a steady flow of visitors over two days.

Held 5 to 6 June at Sydney’s Exhibition and Convention Centre, the expo was host to companies from all sectors of the industry – access control and security, property management, building services, catering, construction and renovation, energy solutions, FM services, lighting, property maintenance, waste management, cleaning products and services, safety and warehouse solutions – and many more.

The cleaning sector was well represented with the likes of Clearchoice Products, A&F Cleaning Equipment & Supplies, Abco Products, Davidson Washroom, JetDryer, Odour Management and Steam Australia to name a few. Managing director of Clearchoice products and sole distributor for

Matthew Israel from AF Cleaning Equipment & Supplies

Enzyme Wizard, John Spiers and his son William were marketing a new Cleantech product – Supa Sponge, with the slogan ‘twice as strong, lasts twice as long’. The new type of open cell foam with tiny particles of melamine resin which are as tough as glass is what makes the sponge so ‘supa’, needing only water to remove most stains.

Jeremy Kronk from JetDryer was enthusiastic about the hand dryers, which promise to be fast, quiet and environmentally friendly. Fitted with a lockable water tray, an anti-bacterial coating and 99.95% air filtration fort a HEPA filter, it promises to be hygienic too, and just received HACCP approval to be used in the food service industry.

Havencab’s stand promoted simple, chemical-free cleaning with marketing and business development manager Frank Boross singing praises for the Lotus Pro System, which uses Aqueous Ozone Technology and the Ready Trolley System from Master Australia. Boross has both systems in place at his Finger Wharf site at

Woolloomooloo (Sydney) and is so impressed with the results that he’s considering installing the system for all his other sites as well.

Peter Pizzoferrato from Odour Management was giving out samples of his 100 percent natural odour eliminator, FreshWave IAQ air ad surface spray, which instantly bonds to and eliminates odour molecules in the air and penetrated if resting on a surface. Created specifically for commercial use, FreshWave IAQ is also available as a gel wall kit, laundry additive, for carpet and upholstery.

Family-owned business A&F Cleaning Equipment & Supplies had a range of products on display from key distributors Sabco, Unger, Whiteley Chemicals, etc, along with a selection of Tennant Company sweepers and cleaning machines. Meanwhile Mark Rosenberg from Steam Australia offered hands-on demonstrations of their steam cleaning machines designed to deep clean tiles, grout, walls, bathrooms, kitchens and public areas.

Overall the expo seemed to live up to expectation based on a successful inaugural event last year so we wait to see what’s in store for 2014.
