The Cleaning Accountability Framework (CAF) and the Property Council of Australia have announced a partnership that will establish the groundwork for increased collaboration between the organisations, with the purpose of raising awareness of sustainable and ethical employment practices.

“Property Council members have a strong track record when it comes to assessing and supporting good human rights outcomes across their operations and supply chains,” Property Council CEO, Ken Morrison said.

“This partnership agreement will allow closer collaboration between our organisations to further develop an environment that recognises and promotes best practice employment conditions in the property services industry.”

Poonam Datar, CEO of CAF, said the partnership is a natural fit.

“With the Property Council’s progressive focus on social impact and, specifically, their Modern Slavery Supplier Platform, CAF’s ‘eyes on the ground’ insights and subject matter expertise will undoubtedly prove to be synergistic,” she said.

The GPT Group agrees that addressing modern slavery risk in the cleaning supply chain requires a substantial and coordinated effort.

“As one of Australia’s largest owners and managers of office, retail and logistics assets, it is important we continue to collaborate and further develop our efforts to address modern slavery risks in the property services’ industry,” GPT Group CEO, Bob Johnston said.

“GPT is proud to be a member of CAF and we are excited for this new partnership between the Property Council and CAF, which will benefit the service providers’ workers and the wider property industry.”

ISPT CEO Daryl Browning stated the collaboration is a good step to a more equitable property services industry, one where social sustainability is as critical as environment sustainability.

“We as property owners must adopt and encourage a shift in industry mentality that puts cleaners’ rights at the heart of the cleaning supply chain,” Browning said
