On Wednesday 28 May 2014 Building Service Contractors Association of Australia (BSCAA) Victoria division held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and members’ cocktail function on the 89th level of Melbourne’s EurekaTower. With the spectacular backdrop of Melbourne nightlife, members and guests enjoyed the opportunity to network with each other and meet the new BSCAA committee for the next 12 months. Members were also given a product presentation by new association member and main sponsor of the evening, a Victoria-based electrical appliance wholesale company, NCE Pty. Ltd.

In his welcoming address BSCAA Victoria president, George Stamas of GJK Facility Services, thanked the sponsors for their ongoing support and also thanked the current BSCAA committee for its tireless efforts. “Without their commitment and hard work many things would just not happen. They give up their time and put back into the industry which enables us to constantly improve and build on our services to members and take the association to new levels,” said Stamas.

The new committee members for BSCAA Victoria for 2014 are George Stamas as president (GJK Facility Services), Paul McCann as treasurer (CMC Property Services), Joe Kaplan (Kaplan Group), Marina Juric (Border Cleaning Services), Matt Marsh (Sebastian Properties), Michael Ebejer (Elynwood), Stephane Fay’d-herbe (CIA), Anthony Daniher (Daniher Property Services), Martin Leach (Bendigo Property Services), and Robert Fearnley (Staples Ltd).

Peter Clifford, from industry partner AustralianSuper gave members a quick update on Government budget amendments to superannuation and highlighted that with the new ‘Super Stream’ in place any business with over 20 employees must contribute funds electronically from 1 July 2014. He urged BSCAA Victoria members to keep up to date and “be pro-active with your super fund.”

NCE Pty. Ltd. unveiled its new ‘Mini’ wall-mounted washer to much interest of BSCAA members. In his introduction of the washer Mario Pace, NCE general manager, commented “we have been established for over 30 years and this is the first time we have launched such an exciting product into the cleaning industry.

“The ‘Mini’ wall-mounted washer has a 2kg capacity and is ideal to be located in the cleaner’s rooms that have sinks and water. It addresses the major issue of how to manage the cleaning of microfibre cloths on site. We look forward to a long association with BSCAA,” he added.
