BSCAA announces board changes

Appointments include new national executive director and NSW president.

The Building Services Contractors Association of Australia (BSCAA) has announced several key appointments following its annual general meeting, including a new national executive director and new president of the NSW division.

George Stamas has been re-elected president of BSCAA National for a two-year term, while Peter Rundle, director for South Australia, remains national vice president. Matthew Collings, director of BSCAA Tasmania, has been appointed national treasurer.

Carolyn Journeaux, executive director of BSCAA Victoria, will take over as national executive director from June 10, following the retirement of long-serving executive director, Barbara Connolly.

Journeaux has more than 30 years’ experience in association management and has been involved in industry for the past 15 years.

Connolly, who joined the association in 1996 and in 2006 took over as NSW executive director, will remain as NSW executive director until June 30, with a local replacement yet to be announced.

“Over these years Barbara has overseen many changes to the industry and was the ‘go-to person’ for all industrial matters,” Stamas said.

“After so many years of dedicated support we wish her well and can not thank her enough for her outstanding contribution to the industry.”

The departure of long-serving director Brian Ellems was also announced at the AGM.

“Brian has been involved with our board for more than 25 years, many of those as treasurer where he has put us on solid ground to develop the association,” Stamas said.

“His years of knowledge have assisted in the development of many projects and he is also well known to many, as the founder and convenor of the outstanding Golf Days Queensland branch hold each year.”

Other state directors include Kim Puxty, Queensland; Lyn Whelan, Western Australia; and Paul McCann, Victoria.
