Ausclean+pulire logo_2Are you planning to attend AUSCLEAN Pulire in two weeks? Ron Segura, president of Segura & Associates, a leading consulting firm for building managers and cleaning contractors, has made comment about how many show attendees do not take advantage of all the benefits that can be derived.

This is timely advice given that AUSCLEAN Pulire is just around the corner, being held 20 to 21 October at Jupiter’s Casino on the Gold Coast.

“They stroll the floor looking at all the products, collect brochures, and then go home,” says Segura. “As soon as they get home, the brochures are typically tossed away along with just about everything they remember of the show.”

There are ways to address this situation, and the first one, according to Segura, is simply bringing the cleaners to the show. Often building managers attend the convention but forget the cleaning workers. If they really want to select tools and equipment for their facilities, they need to remember to bring the people that will be using those products.

Segura adds that cleaning workers must “buy in” to any products selected at the show, and the best way to accomplish this is to involve them in the selection.

Simon Cooper, managing director of Interpoint Events, organiser of AUSCLEAN Pulire, offers eight tips based on Segura’s advice on how to get the most out of attending AUSCLEAN:

1. Work as a team; before the show identify what your ‘cleaning strategy is for the next 12 months.
2. Prepare a list of all the relevant educational seminars. Most of these are free to attend.
3. If there are seminar time conflicts, have some people attend one seminar while others attend another.
4. Prepare a list of the products, tools, chemicals, and equipment you would like to see and test.
5. Check the exhibitor list online or the in the latest issue of INCLEAN magazine and make a list of specific vendors you want to see.
6. Be prepared with questions you want to ask vendors and don’t hesitate to ask them.
7. With lists in hand, prepare a daily schedule noting which products to see and which vendors to visit.
8. Schedule meetings with your team to compare notes. There are plenty of seating areas and Kennards is supplying free coffee.

Agreeing with Segura, Cooper says that when attending AUSCLEAN: “Every cleaning professional attending the show should have two things in mind: firstly when they see equipment or meet with vendors what are the features and benefits I can get from a product?

“Secondly, to be open to new ideas. There are products you will have never seen or heard about and people you have never met. Be willing to explore and discuss, it’s a great place to network. AUSCLEAN offers free coffee, free education, free drinks (on Tuesday afternoon) and lots of free advice. It really is a great place to invest your time for a day,” stated Cooper.
