Brisbane based company; Absolute Domestics has launched the Housekeeping College in an Australian-first training initiative. The College offers a fully accredited Certificate III in Domestic Cleaning and Housekeeping.

‘Approved by the Department of Education, Training and Employment, the Housekeeping College offers trainees part-time, paid study options for eligible students to help them pursue a career within the domestic services industry.’

“We are pleased to support this initiative which will give domestic cleaners formal qualifications and a career path. This will create education and flexible working opportunities for people from different backgrounds with different working needs,” said Kerry Krebs, director of training south east region, Department of Education, Training and Employment.

The Mayor of Redland City Council, Cr Karen Williams, is also pleased to support this new training initiative. “Many people from across South East Queensland, including theRedlands, will benefit from this course. We are pleased to see our local businesses developing such practical initiatives and applaud Absolute Domestics on their new training program,” said Williams.

‘The first rounds of students have graduated from the program and are already working flexible hours as domestic cleaners acrossBrisbane. Co-founder of Absolute Domestics, Joy Vess, said she is pleased to announce the launch of the College and see the first bunch of trainees graduate and enter the industry.’

“We are very excited to launch theHousekeepingCollegeand believe it is a great avenue for people wanting work or a career change, flexible work hours or a way to re-enter the workforce,” Vess said. “With government approval and no course fees, the traineeship is designed to provide flexibility, fundamental skills and knowledge to build a career within the domestic services industry.

“Unlike many courses out there, our students will receive guaranteed work with Absolute Domestics upon completion, as we believe it is important to foster the growth and development of our graduates. We also expect this course will create opportunities to support cleaning professionals in the aged care industry,” Vess revealed.

The Certificate III in Domestic Cleaning and Housekeeping runs over 13 weeks and requires a minimum of 15 hours per week, with eligible trainees being paid on a permanent part-time basis for the entire duration.

‘The course is part-time with no fees (subject to eligibility) and commences weekly at the Chermside training facility located at the corner of Rode Road and Gympie Road at Woodridge training facility located at 24/170 North Road. Students will learn the basic elements of domestic cleaning and housekeeping skills and gain on the job work experience.’

Upon completion, trainees are said to receive guaranteed employment with Absolute Domestics, secure and flexible work options, transfer capabilities throughout Australia and New Zealand, attractive rates and career development prospects.
