One of the excellent WFBSC presentations was delivered by Luciano Pizzatto, environmentalist and CEO of Compagas, a Brazilian energy company. Presented in Portugese, this writer had difficulty in understanding the English translation, however, here are some bullet points.
*A hungry man cannot think about tomorrow…
*Countries defend the technologies they manufacture, whether wind, water, solar or nuclear.
*Bacteria and viruses are the most dangerous things man is facing today compared with climate change.
*We have to control the environment from a hygiene perspective.
*Social enviro reports… “I am tired of them”.
*Social responsibility goes beyond paying more than just the tax you owe.
*“We are getting dumber and dumber…. people have forgotten about science.
*Water running out… turn off the taps? Drinking water is an economic problem, not an environmental problem.
*Drinking water is treated water and costs.
*Fish cannot survive in crystal clear water has not fish! Distilled water kills humans.
*I am a forester, regarding trees I question their role greenhouse effect. Trees are environmentalists’ priority in controlling the greenhouse effect and yet trees are not part of the greenhouse effect. They are a relatively small part of the contribution.
*We cannot interfere with the solar system, so we need to prepare ourselves and our cities.
*Hugging trees is important but cutting old trees and planting new trees is best for carbon sequestration.
*Cleaning for Health will be good. Efficient cleaning will be good for the environment, applying sensitive cleaning systems will be good for the environment.
*If you do use chemicals well you don’t have to do the cleaning task again (twice).
